STEVENSVILLE, Md. – The Missouri State Highway Patrol has been selected to receive the 7th Annual IACP-iXP Excellence in Technology Award for their Interoperable Public Safety Communications Platform. The MSHP was awarded this honor based upon creation of their state of the art Network Emergency Response Vehicles (NERVs).
The agency worked with Front Line Communications, a communications vehicle fabricator, and PEAKE to create the vehicles which act as a command center for on-the-ground disaster management, as well as a central processing center for communications.
“PEAKE was an integral part of the concept of operations of this fleet of command vehicles,” said Sikeston Public Safety Director Chief Drew Juden. “From inception to integration, PEAKE provided very helpful insight and engineering which in turn provided our agencies with turnkey state-of-the-art resources for disaster management, interoperability, and unified communications. PEAKE continues to provide post-delivery support of the fleet for break/fix, recurring training and services for our VSAT systems. ”
According to the MSHP Director of Communications Division, “the vehicles all feature TelePresence, video surveillance, Wi-Fi, satellite communications, and IP telephony. Through the IP Interoperability and Collaboration System (IPICS), MSHP is able to communicate with state and federal agencies, from local sheriff’s departments and fire departments to the U.S. National Guard.”
PEAKE worked closely with the Missouri State Highway patrol to help create and build a significant communications network for the entire fleet of vehicles which includes 2 large command vehicles and 3 rapid response vehicles. Having several mobile, on-scene resources has allowed the MSHP to make a significant impact on the citizens of Missouri and the emergency response community. The fleet provides necessary communication among different agencies, situational awareness capabilities for officials, and unified communications through a mesh network, which brings together all 5 vehicles on a single platform.
The IACP-iXP Excellence in Technology Award will be presented to the Missouri State Highway Patrol at the 34th Annual International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Law Enforcement Information Management (LEIM) Conference. The MSHP is identified as the best in the Excellence in Law Enforcement Communication and Interoperability, large agency.
